The following statement complies with California Assembly Bill 241 to the Business and Professions Code (BPC): Implicit biases are unconscious attitudes and stereotypes that may manifest including but not limited to a healthcare environment. Implicit bias is additionally referred to as implicit social cognition or unconscious bias. There are various samples of implicit biases, starting from sexuality, gender and race. Environment, media and culture may contribute to these biases. Removing these biases can be hard, especially because we are not aware of their existence but research shows that levels of implicit biases are decreasing in parts of the world. A course on Implicit Bias can be found here.
